My passion for travel started long before Point Me Abroad existed. My first international trip was a Christian mission and adventure trip to Peru with my dad.
We dug wells and helped feed families outside Lima. I kayaked through the flooded Amazon jungle at night in a hand-carved canoe, searching for anacondas and alligators by flashlight. I slept in an open-air bungalow under a mosquito net. Then I got altitude sickness in Cusco, chewed mint leaves trying to feel human again, and eventually found myself beneath the domes of Hagia Sophia.
Years later, after traveling to more than 20 countries, another trip changed everything. I found an award deal to New Zealand and booked it almost on a whim. Then I stood overlooking Milford Sound. The mountains, waterfalls and rainforest were so overwhelmingly beautiful that I found myself in awe of God's architecture.
I realized travel wasn't simply something I loved. I wanted to help other people experience moments like this. That's why I created Point Me Abroad. Not to help people collect imaginary currencies in loyalty accounts. But to help people see places they might never otherwise see, experience a level of travel they never thought possible, and come home changed by it.
