The Points Guy and sites alike are blog sites and offer some great resources for learning tips and tricks for earning and redeeming points and miles at a casual rate.

There are even blog sites where you can pay for courses to learn points and miles in a more structured format. The best courses however are 10-15 hours just for a fundamental level understanding without having all of the experience of putting the learning into use at the highest level. This also doesn’t account for the many hours required to search for the best flight and hotel redemptions. You will not master points and miles at the highest level without dedicating 100+ hours of your time.

However, the key difference with Point Me Abroad and these blog sites (and courses) is Point Me Abroad is a DONE-FOR-YOU service, requiring little time and effort on your part.

The truth is, mastering points and miles takes literally hundreds of hours of learning, researching, practice, knowing how to effectively use many tools, how to navigate numerous credit card rules, how to find flight deals that aren’t even posted on airlines websites, etc. all while keeping up with the ever changing world of points and miles. Points offers and travel redemptions change literally everyday, thus knowing all of the best card offers and travel redemptions is a constant learning process.

So you can follow these blogs and learn some useful information and even take some of the paid courses and start earning and redeeming points at an elementary level. But you are absolutely not going to master points and miles earning and the effective travel redemptions at the highest level like this unless you put many hours into learning everything and years of practice. Thus that is the value of my guide service. I am an expert with years of experience and I put in the time for you.

You just sign up for the cards, spend your normal everyday spending, earn the points, and travel for nearly free. I put in all of the work and do everything else (or guide you) for you. Minimal time spent on your behalf.

Ask yourself…how many of those blog sites are guaranteeing 1,000,000 points/miles earned? (hint: the answer is none)

The short answer is NO. In most cases it will actually IMPROVE your credit.

Most of the cards I recommend have NO annual fee. However, there are a few cards with annual fees (usually around $100)...however, you will only pay these fees once (for one year) in most cases and then you will downgrade the card to a no annual fee card. When you're earning $2,500 to $10,000 or more in value from the card then a $99 annual fee is minor in comparison to the value you are getting.

No, I never recommend any clients to spend above their normal, everyday spending habits. If you had to spend more than your normal everyday spend, this would dilute the value of my program and thus is not something that is needed to earn points and miles.

Simple answer is absolutely not. I advise all of my clients to NEVER pay interest and to set up your cards on automatic monthly payments (of your full balance) so that you don’t have to worry about it.
